[Knightsqrss] WSPR Developments

Dear Friends,

I have not had much time to work on WSPR this week.
Nevertheless I've been running WSPR v0.6 almost continuously
at my own station, and examining the results. I've also been
paying close attention to the spots and comments on program
performance made by others.

I write now to share a few conclusions and bring you up to
date on planned developments.

It is clear that WSPR 0.6 works well for most people. A few
have had trouble with it, and some bugs have been reported.
Most of them will be easy to fix.

The v0.6 decoder works at weaker signal levels than v0.5,
and on signals with substantial drift. That is good. (It
would be even better, of course, if users would work to
correct the drift in their Tx oscillators.)

On the down side, v0.6 produces more false decodes than v0.5
-- and certainly more than it should.

I understand where the weak points in v0.6 lie, and they
will be addressed as soon as I am able. I hope to have v0.7
ready within the next two weeks.

I appreciate all of the input from WSPR users, even if I
have not had time to answer all emails individually. Your
input has been extremely useful! Please keep the comments
and suggestions coming.
