Paolo, do you have a bare rod or also a coil over it?
You'll need a LOT of turns to be able to resonate it on MF with a reasonable C
value.
Example: 100pF resonates at 500kHz with 1mH coil. How many turns does that
mean on your rod?
In the past I've successfully built a square multiturn loop using a 4m of PC
flat cable (26 conductors), resonated with a air-spaced variable capacitor
(20-200pF). It tuned sharply over the whole LF and low-MF range. Unfortunately
I have no pictures nor description of it.
It is not as compact as a rod. If you want to pursue the rod way, take one
from a MF receiver!
